Custom integration in one development cycle
Before teaming up with Voucherify, Ubigi didn't have any promotion software in place. However, the telco company was looking to incentivize customers and boost customer acquisition numbers. Developing an in-house referral program would have been a large-scale project requiring a lot of development effort and financial resources. That is why Ubigi turned to Voucherify.
Ubigi chose Voucherify due to the robust APIs that could be easily integrated with their custom mobile app and website powered by WooCommerce. The entire process – from discovery to the first redemption – took less than three months.

Voucherify works on both the Ubigi website as well as the Ubigi app. The website is powered by WooCommerce, and the Ubigi mobile and web apps are built in-house.
17% of new users generated by referrals
To increase the number of new customers, Ubigi decided to run a double-sided referral program where:
- Advocates receive 50% off Ubigi data plans with each successful referral.
- Referred friends receive 20% off on their first purchase with Ubigi.
Discount codes are valid on all Ubigi products except monthly plans. The unique referral code can be found in the “Refer” section in the Ubigi app. Currently, the referral program can be used only in the app, and the referral code cannot be redeemed on the website. For the referral to be completed, referred friends have to enter the advocate’s code in the field reserved for promotional codes upon purchase.
Each time the advocate’s code is used, they will automatically receive a unique coupon code by email, which will allow them to receive the discount.
Customers can find discount coupons at any time in a dedicated wallet section in the Ubigi app. The referral program has been running now for less than a year and is responsible for 17% of all new users joining the app, which translates to 10% of Ubigi’s revenue – making it a highly successful strategy for lowering customer acquisition costs in a busy telco market.
Targeted promo codes to re-engage and nurture customers
Ubigi shares promo codes primarily via email. These codes serve various purposes, including re-engaging customers who have not made recent purchases and incentivizing regular customers with discounts. Additionally, Ubigi uses Voucherify to create re-engagement promotions for their connected car services as part of their telco offerings. One example of a promo code is a welcome offer where customers would get a 10% discount on the first eSIM data plan.
On top of that, Ubigi also collaborates with affiliates, bloggers, and influencers, providing them with unique promo codes generated through Voucherify. This approach ensures that each partner has a personalized promo code tailored to their audience.
To maintain control and ensure targeted usage, Ubigi implements Voucherify's validation rules on their coupon codes. These rules dictate specific purchase conditions or limit usage to first-time purchases, enhancing the effectiveness and safety of Ubigi’s promotions.
Operations behind Ubigi’s success
By leveraging Voucherify's capabilities, Ubigi can run plenty of loyalty and incentivization telco promotions that are tailored to specific groups, such as new customers or those who have not purchased within a certain timeframe. This customization is achieved through the use of metadata and the creation of specific rules within Voucherify.
For example, in the case of connected cars, Transatel Group offers a complimentary data plan with the purchase of a specific car model where a promo code can be applied only to a specific SKU. Thanks to the visual Dashboard, Ubigi’s marketing team is fully responsible for creating and managing campaigns – relieving developers from overseeing promotions.
